"The inspiration for this Festschrift comes from Balentine's groundbreaking publications on Torah and wisdom literature. Contributors were asked to write either on Torah or wisdom literature in a way that resonates with at least one of the following three aspects of Balentine's scholarship: (1) his innovative theological and vital ethical interpretations of biblical texts; (2) his interest in the relationship of biblical studies with other fields, such as science, philosophy, and psychology; or (3) his pioneering work on the history of the Bible's reception in visual arts, literature, theater, and other cultural expressions"--
