Power and Literature

At the core of this book lies the relation between Power (as socio-political phenomenon) and the novel (as literary discourse). Seeing Power as a historically determined and meaning-producing reality, the study defines four theoretical categories of Power, before applying them to the analysis of four Romanian novels. It shows that literature is not powerless against excess but can subvert it by specific narrative strategies.
