Pinkerton marries Cio-Cio San, but soon leaves her to return to America. Cio-Cio San waits patiently for his return, even after giving birth to their child, but when Pinkerton finally comes back, it is with his American wife. Cio-Cio San is heartbroken and ultimately chooses to take her own life. The opera is known for its beautiful music, including the famous aria ""Un bel di vedremo"" sung by Cio-Cio San. Madam Butterfly is a tragic story of love and loss, and explores themes of cultural differences, betrayal, and the consequences of colonialism.Founded On The Book By John L.
