1879. Eliot is the pen name for Mary Ann, later Marian Evans, one of the great English novelists. This volume contains the life of the author written from extracts from her letters and journals. The selection of her correspondence was influenced by the desire to make known the woman, as well as the author, through the presentation of her daily life.
