Beskrivelse af Wonders of the Invisible World Being An Account of the Trials of Several Witches Lately Executed in New England
Wonders of the Invisible World is a historical account written by Cotton Mather about the Salem witch trials that took place in New England in the late 17th century. The book provides a detailed description of the trials of several women accused of witchcraft and their subsequent executions. Mather, a prominent Puritan minister, believed in the existence of witches and the Devil and used this book as a means of justifying the actions taken against them. The book also includes accounts of supernatural events and occurrences that were believed to be evidence of witchcraft. Wonders of the Invisible World offers a window into the beliefs and fears of the Puritan community during this time period and is a valuable historical document for understanding the Salem witch trials.1693. And of several remarkable curiosities therein occurring. Also found in this book is an observation upon the nature, the number and the operations of the Devil; a short narrative of a later outrage committed by a knot of witches in Swede-Land, very much resembling, and so far explaining, that under which New England has labored; some counsels directing a due improvement of the terrible things lately done by the unusual and amazing range of evil spirits in New England; and a brief discourse upon those temptations which are the more ordinary devices of Satan. Written in Old English. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
