Beskrivelse af Wonders of the Invisible World Being An Account of the Trials of Several Witches Lately Executed in New England
Wonders of the Invisible World is a historical account of the infamous witch trials that took place in New England during the 17th century. Written by Cotton Mather, a prominent Puritan minister and scholar, the book documents the trials and executions of several accused witches in Salem and other parts of Massachusetts. Mather argues that witchcraft is a real and dangerous threat to society, and he provides detailed descriptions of the accused witches' alleged crimes and confessions. The book also includes Mather's own commentary on the trials, as well as excerpts from the court records and other primary sources. Wonders of the Invisible World is a fascinating and disturbing look at one of the darkest chapters in American history, and it remains a significant work of early American literature.1693. And of several remarkable curiosities therein occurring. Also found in this book is an observation upon the nature, the number and the operations of the Devil; a short narrative of a later outrage committed by a knot of witches in Swede-Land, very much resembling, and so far explaining, that under which New England has labored; some counsels directing a due improvement of the terrible things lately done by the unusual and amazing range of evil spirits in New England; and a brief discourse upon those temptations which are the more ordinary devices of Satan. Written in Old English. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
