Beskrivelse af Wild Youth
The story is that of a young man's love for a young, beautiful, and unhappy married woman.
Experience has taught us what to expect from the pernicious writing of the day, which gauges strength of passion by weakness of resistance.
It is therefore refreshing to find Sir Gilbert Parker's young people taking account of temptation to be withstood and a hard battle to be won.
Gilbert Parker (1862-1932) was a Canadian novelist and politician. He was born in Camden East, Addington County, Ontario, Canada. Parker began his career as a teacher before turning to journalism and eventually becoming a successful author. He is best known for his works of fiction, including novels and short stories.
Parker gained popularity for his novels that often explored themes of Canadian history, particularly during the French-Canadian and British colonial periods. His writing style is characterized by a combination of historical detail, adventure, and romance. One of his most famous works is "The Seats of the Mighty" (1896), set in 18th-century Quebec during the French and Indian War.
Apart from his literary pursuits, Gilbert Parker also had a career in politics. He served as a Member of Parliament in the Canadian House of Commons from 1896 to 1905. He was later knighted in 1902 for his contributions to literature and politics, becoming Sir Gilbert Parker.
While Gilbert Parker's popularity waned in the 20th century, he remains an important figure in Canadian literature, and his works provide insights into the historical and cultural contexts of his time.
