Beskrivelse af Ursula
Ursula: The Vicar of Tours, written by Honore de Balzac and published in 1917, is a novel that tells the story of a young woman named Ursula Mirouet. Ursula is the daughter of a wealthy Parisian lawyer who dies, leaving her in the care of her mother and stepfather. However, her stepfather becomes jealous of her inheritance and mistreats her, leading Ursula to run away to Tours, where she becomes the ward of a kind-hearted priest named Bonnet. Under Bonnet's guidance, Ursula grows into a virtuous and intelligent young woman, but her stepfather continues to try and control her life from afar. Ursula also attracts the attention of a wealthy and influential man named Savinien de Portenduere, who becomes infatuated with her and offers to marry her. However, Ursula is torn between her love for Savinien and her loyalty to Bonnet, who has become like a father to her.The novel explores themes of love, loyalty, and the corrupting influence of wealth and power. Balzac's vivid descriptions of the French countryside and the inner lives of his characters make Ursula: The Vicar of Tours a compelling read for fans of classic literature.Illustrated By Adrien Moreau And J. A. Muenier. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
