Beskrivelse af The Zambesi Expedition
The Zambesi Expedition is a book written by David Livingstone, a Scottish explorer and missionary who traveled extensively throughout Africa in the 19th century. The book chronicles his journey along the Zambesi River in southern Africa, which he undertook in 1858-1864 with the goal of exploring the region and spreading Christianity.Livingstone's account of the expedition is a fascinating and detailed exploration of the geography, flora, and fauna of the region, as well as the customs and traditions of the local tribes. He describes the challenges he faced in navigating the river and the dangers he encountered, including attacks by crocodiles and hippos, as well as hostile tribes.Throughout the book, Livingstone also shares his thoughts on the role of Christianity in Africa, and his efforts to convert the local people to his faith. He writes about his interactions with the local chiefs and his attempts to establish trade relationships with them. The Zambesi Expedition is an important historical document that provides a vivid and detailed picture of Africa in the mid-19th century, as well as insights into the mind of one of the most famous explorers of the era. It is a must-read for anyone interested in African history, exploration, or the life and work of David Livingstone. We arrived at Zumbo, at the mouth of the Loangwa, on the 1st of November. The water being scarcely up to the knee, our land party waded this river with ease. A buffalo was shot on an island opposite Pangola's, the ball lodging in the spleen. It was found to have been wounded in the same organ previously, for an iron bullet was imbedded in it, and the wound entirely healed. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
