An 18th century Covent Garden Prostitute must solve a murder or risk death on the gallows. It is 1769. These are violent times. London's Covent Garden has long been a centre of hedonistic pleasure, with its whores and harridans, aristocrats and artisans, actors, drunks and thieves. Kitty Ives is a prostitute, plying her trade in Covent Garden. When a man is found dead in her bed she fears she may be blamed, and end up swinging from the gallows. So begins Kitty's quest to uncover the identity of the murderer. When a second body is discovered, the stakes are raised still further, with Kitty very much alone and often out of her depth, unsure of whom to trust and whom to fear. Nevertheless, Kitty remains feisty, forthright and spirited, with a sardonic sense of humour.
