Beskrivelse af The Age of Reason
The Age of Reason is a book written by Thomas Paine, a prominent political activist and philosopher of the 18th century. The book is a critique of organized religion and a defense of rational thinking and scientific inquiry. Paine argues that religious institutions have been used as tools of oppression and that individuals should use their own reason and critical thinking to determine their beliefs. The book is divided into two parts, with the first part focusing on the flaws of Christianity and the second part exploring Paine's own beliefs in a deistic God. The Age of Reason was controversial when it was first published in 1794, and Paine was widely criticized for his criticisms of Christianity. However, the book has since become a classic of Enlightenment thought and a landmark in the history of free thought and secularism.THESE books, beginning with Genesis and ending with Revelations, (which, by the bye, is a book of riddles that requires a revelation to explain it) are, we are told, the word of God. It is, therefore, proper for us to know who told us so, that we may know what credit to give to the report. The answer to this question is, that nobody can tell, except that we tell one another so.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
