Beskrivelse af Lakme
Lakme is an opera in three acts, composed by Leo Delibes in 1890. The story is set in India during the British Raj and follows the tragic love story of the Hindu priestess, Lakme, and the British officer, Gerald. The opera is known for its lush and exotic score, which features a blend of Western and Indian musical elements. The famous ""Flower Duet"" is one of the most recognizable pieces from the opera. The themes of colonialism, cultural clash, and forbidden love are explored throughout the opera. The libretto was written by Edmond Gondinet and Philippe Gille, and the opera premiered at the Opra-Comique in Paris in 1883. Lakme has since become one of the most popular French operas and has been performed in opera houses around the world.Translated And Adapted By Theodore T. Barker. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
