Beskrivelse af Ideala
""Ideala"" is a novel written by Sarah Grand, first published in 1888. The book is set in the late 19th century and explores the themes of gender roles, marriage, and the societal expectations placed upon women. The story follows the life of a young woman named Eve Fairfax, who is forced to navigate the patriarchal society of the time. Eve is determined to live life on her own terms and refuses to conform to the expectations placed upon her. She becomes involved in a romantic relationship with a man named Richard, who is also struggling with the societal expectations placed upon him as a man. Together, they try to break free from the constraints of their society and find a way to live authentically. The novel is considered a feminist classic and was praised for its portrayal of strong, independent female characters. It is a thought-provoking and insightful commentary on the social norms of the time and remains relevant today. It was not always--although, unfortunately, it was oftenest at critical moments--that she was beset with this inability to see more than one side of a subject at a time. The odd thing about it was that one never knew which side, the pathetic or the humorous, would strike her. Generally, however, it was the one that related least to herself personally. This self-forgetfulness, with a keen sense of the ludicrous, led her sometimes, when she had anything amusing to relate, to overlook considerations which would have kept other people silent. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
