Beskrivelse af Dido, Queen Of Carthage
""Dido, Queen of Carthage"" is a play written by Christopher Marlowe in 1587, which tells the story of Dido, the queen of Carthage, and her tragic love affair with Aeneas, a Trojan prince. The play opens with Aeneas and his fellow Trojans being shipwrecked on the shores of Carthage, where Dido welcomes them and offers them hospitality. Aeneas and Dido soon fall in love, but their happiness is short-lived as Aeneas is reminded of his duty to fulfill his destiny as a founder of Rome. Despite Dido's pleas, Aeneas leaves Carthage, causing Dido to be consumed by grief and ultimately leading to her tragic demise. Marlowe's play is a tale of love, duty, and the consequences of one's actions, and is considered a masterpiece of Elizabethan drama. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
