Beskrivelse af Dido, Queen of Carthage
Dido, Queen of Carthage: A Tragedy is a play written by Christopher Marlowe and first published in 1825. The play tells the story of Dido, the Queen of Carthage, and her tragic love affair with the Trojan prince Aeneas. The play is set in Carthage, where Dido has fled after her husband's death, and where she has built a new city. Aeneas and his fellow Trojans arrive in Carthage, seeking refuge from their own war-torn country. Dido and Aeneas fall in love, but their relationship is complicated by the fact that Aeneas is destined to leave Carthage and found Rome. The play explores themes of love, duty, fate, and betrayal, and is known for its beautiful language and lyrical poetry. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
