Beskrivelse af Andromaque, Britannicus and Athalie (1903)
Andromaque, Britannicus, and Athalie is a collection of three plays by French playwright Jean Racine. The first play, Andromaque, is a tragedy set in ancient Greece and follows the story of Andromaque, the widow of Hector, as she struggles to protect her son from the vengeful Pyrrhus. The second play, Britannicus, is a political drama set in ancient Rome and focuses on the power struggle between Emperor Nero and his stepbrother Britannicus. The final play, Athalie, is a biblical drama set in ancient Israel and tells the story of Queen Athalie's attempt to destroy the royal line of David. All three plays explore themes of power, love, betrayal, and the consequences of one's actions. Racine's elegant language and complex characters make these plays enduring classics of French literature. This edition, published in 1903, features the original French text. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
