Young Robyn Nudd is a smuggler and apprentice witch. She plies here trade on the canal and waterway networks of England. One morning she awakes to find a body floating in the canal at Camden Lock.And so begins an adventure. She is examined by the Inquisitors, persecuted by the Cultural Laws, and becomes a fugitive from the Crown. The Witchfinder General burns her lover, the Templars chase her across the country, and she is befriended the strange Ferdinand de Noirfoncé.
