When she realises she is pregnant, her feelings are a mixture of fear and joy. Although she can write to Robert, there is no guarantee she will ever see him again. She now has to protect her unborn baby, who, they have agreed, will be called Alice if it is a girl. Will this child have a future? Will any of them have a future?
