Beskrivelse af What Diantha Did
What Diantha Did is a novel written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, first published in 1910. The story follows Diantha Bell, a young woman who leaves her family's farm to find work in the city. She quickly becomes disillusioned with the limited opportunities available to women and decides to start her own business, a domestic service agency that employs women and provides them with fair wages and working conditions. As Diantha's business grows, she becomes involved in the women's suffrage movement and falls in love with a wealthy businessman who shares her progressive ideals. However, their relationship is threatened by social conventions and the disapproval of their families. The novel explores themes of gender roles, economic independence, and social change. It is considered a feminist classic and was praised for its portrayal of a strong, independent female protagonist who defies societal expectations.""It's not because I don't love you, Mother. It's because I do. And it's not because I don't love Ross either: --it's because I do. I want to take care of you, Mother, and make life easier for you as long as you live. I want to help him--to help carry that awful load--and I'm going--to--do--it!""This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
