"This book examines the racial politics embedded in the discourses and practices of innovation-centered economic development. Drawing on both archival research and contemporary ethnography in West Philadelphia's neighborhoods, the book unsettles the consensus that inclusive redevelopment policies have decisively superseded harmful, racist ones in twenty-first century cities.
