Beskrivelse af Uncle Remus His Songs and His Sayings
""Uncle Remus His Songs and His Sayings"" is a collection of stories and songs from the African American oral tradition, compiled and written down by Joel Chandler Harris. The book is narrated by Uncle Remus, a former slave who tells stories to a young white boy named Johnny. The stories feature animal characters such as Br'er Rabbit, Br'er Fox, and Br'er Bear, who engage in trickery and mischief. Along with the stories, the book also includes songs and rhymes that Uncle Remus sings to Johnny. The book was first published in 1880 and has since become a classic of American literature. It has been praised for its rich portrayal of African American culture and for its ability to entertain readers of all ages. However, it has also been criticized for perpetuating racial stereotypes and for its use of dialect, which some readers find difficult to understand.1880. With over 100 illustrations. American author and journalist, Harris is famous for humorous adaptations of black folk legends in the Uncle Remus Stories. These folktales, to by a Negro to a little boy, feature a variety of animals with the rabbit as hero and the fox next in importance, and often stress the importance of brains over brawn. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
