Beskrivelse af Trelawny of the Wells
Trelawny of the Wells is a play written by Arthur Wing Pinero and published in 1899. It is a four-act comedietta that tells the story of a young actress named Rose Trelawny who is forced to choose between her love for the theatre and her desire for a more conventional life. Set in Victorian London, the play explores themes of class, tradition, and the changing nature of the theatre industry.Rose Trelawny is a popular actress who has grown up in the theatre, but she becomes disillusioned with the lifestyle and decides to leave the stage to marry a wealthy young man named Arthur Gower. However, when she tries to adapt to her new life, she finds that she is unable to leave behind her love for the theatre and her old friends. The play features a cast of colorful characters, including Rose's fellow actors and actresses, her theatrical manager, and her aristocratic in-laws. The characters' interactions provide a commentary on the social norms of the time, as well as the tensions between the traditional theatre and the new, more commercial forms of entertainment that were emerging in the late 19th century.Trelawny of the Wells is considered one of Pinero's most successful plays, and it has been revived many times since its original production. Its themes of identity, social mobility, and the struggle between tradition and modernity continue to resonate with audiences today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
