Beskrivelse af Theatrum Chemicum Brittannicum
Theatrum Chemicum Brittannicum is a book written by Elias Ashmole, a 17th-century English antiquarian, politician, and alchemist. The book is a collection of alchemical writings and treatises from various authors, including Ashmole himself. It was first published in 1652 and later expanded in 1689. The book includes 16 alchemical works, each with its own title page and introduction, and covers a range of topics such as the philosopher's stone, the transmutation of metals, and the creation of elixirs. The book also includes illustrations and diagrams related to alchemy. Theatrum Chemicum Brittannicum is considered a significant work in the history of alchemy and is still studied by scholars and practitioners of the art today.Contains several poetical pieces of famous English philosophers who have written the Hermetique Mysteries. Faithfully collected into one volume, with annotations thereon, by Elias Ashmole. Contains Thomas Norton's Ordinal of Alchemy; Ripley's Compound of Alchemy, George Ripley to King Edward the Fourth, Verses Belonging to An Emblematical Scrowle; Charnock's Breviary of Natural Philosophy; Fragments Copied From Thomas Charnock's Own Handwriting; Liber Patris Sapienti; Hermes Bird; Geoffry Chaucer's The Tale of the Chanons Yeoman; The Work of John Dastin; Pearce's The Black Monke Upon the Elixir; Carpenter's Work; The Greene Lyon; Sir Edward Kelle's Work; Thomas Robinson's De Lapide Philosophorum; and The Hermet's Tale.
