Beskrivelse af The Wept Of Wish Ton-Wish
The Wept of Wish Ton-Wish is a novel written by James Fenimore Cooper, published in 1829. The story is set in the 17th century and follows the lives of two Native American tribes, the Mohegans and the Mohicans, who are at war with each other. The protagonist of the story is a Mohegan woman named Magua, who falls in love with a Mohican warrior named Uncas. However, their love is forbidden due to the ongoing conflict between their tribes.Magua's father, the chief of the Mohegans, arranges for her to marry a wealthy and powerful Mohegan warrior named Arrowhead. Magua is torn between her duty to her father and her love for Uncas. Meanwhile, a group of English settlers arrive in the area and begin to encroach on the Native American lands. The settlers bring with them a new way of life and a new religion, which threatens the traditional way of life of the Native Americans. As tensions rise between the Native American tribes and the English settlers, Magua is forced to make a difficult decision. She must choose between her loyalty to her tribe and her love for Uncas, while also navigating the changing world around her.The Wept of Wish Ton-Wish is a powerful and thought-provoking novel that explores the themes of love, loyalty, and cultural conflict. Cooper's vivid descriptions of the natural landscape and the Native American way of life add depth and richness to the story, making it a timeless classic of American literature. With this admonition to be wary of a danger that he had so recently affected to despise, Content departed on his errand. The two laborers he had mentioned by name, were youths of mould and strength, and they were well inured to toil, no less than to the particular privations and dangers of a border life. Like most men of their years and condition, they were practised too in the wiles of Indian cunning; and though the Province of Connecticut, compared to other settlements, had suffered but little in this species of murderous warfare. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
