Beskrivelse af The Well Of Saint Clare
The Well of Saint Clare is a novel written by French author Anatole France. The story is set in medieval France and follows the life of a young monk named Ambrose, who is sent to the monastery of Saint Clare. The monastery is known for its miraculous well, which is said to have healing powers.Ambrose is initially skeptical of the well's powers, but he soon becomes convinced of its ability to heal. He becomes obsessed with the well and spends all his time studying its history and the stories of those who have been healed by its waters. As Ambrose becomes more and more involved with the well, he begins to uncover a dark secret about the monastery and its past. He discovers that the well was not always the peaceful and holy place it is now, and that there are those who will stop at nothing to keep its true history hidden. The novel explores themes of faith, religion, and the corrupting influence of power. It is a gripping tale of mystery and intrigue, set against the backdrop of medieval France. On coming to himself, he smelt the perfume of myrtles and roses, and looking out of window saw a garden that descended in successive declivities to the sea. Signora Loreta, standing at his bed's head, took up her viol and began playing a tender air. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
