Beskrivelse af The Way Of All Flesh
The Way of All Flesh is a novel written by Samuel Butler, first published in 1903. The novel follows the life of Ernest Pontifex, a young man who struggles to find his place in the world and rebel against the strict expectations of his family and society. Ernest's father, Theobald Pontifex, is a strict and domineering man who imposes his values and beliefs on his family. Ernest's mother, Christina, is a kind and loving woman who tries to protect her son from his father's harsh treatment. As Ernest grows up, he becomes increasingly disillusioned with his family and their values. He rebels against his father's expectations by pursuing his own interests, including music and literature. However, he finds that even in these pursuits, he is still constrained by the expectations of his family and society. The novel explores themes of family, religion, and the struggle for individuality in a society that values conformity. It is a satirical critique of Victorian society and its values, and is considered a classic of English literature. This Is A New Release Of The Original 1916 Edition. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
