Beskrivelse af The Unclassed
The Unclassed is a novel by the English author George Gissing, first published in 1884. The story follows the life of a young woman named Alma Rolfe, who is struggling to find her place in Victorian society. Alma is intelligent and ambitious, but she is also poor and lacks the social connections necessary to succeed in the world of business and politics. She becomes involved with a group of socialists and anarchists, who introduce her to new ideas and ways of thinking. However, Alma's association with these radicals also brings her into conflict with her family and the wider society. The novel explores themes of class, gender, and social inequality, and is considered a significant work of Victorian literature.Julian never forgot the promise he had made to his uncle that Christmas night, eight years ago, when he was a lad of thirteen. Harriet he had always regarded as his sister, and never yet had he failed in brotherly duty to her. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
