The The Risen Horse

Karen Tascheks first book, The Horse of Seven Moons, was a childrens fictional story about a pinto horse, a Mescalero Apache boy, and an Anglo girl. In this new sequel, The Risen Horse, the Apache boy is now a grown man whose daughter is sent to the Carlisle Indian School in Pennsylvania. She returns to a complicated world where she must reconcile the traditionalist ways of her father with the Anglo community that expects the Apaches to abandon the old ways.
