Beskrivelse af The Strange Ride Of Morrowbie Jukes (1899)
The Strange Ride of Morrowbie Jukes is a novel written by Rudyard Kipling and published in 1899. The story follows the titular character, Morrowbie Jukes, a British engineer who becomes stranded in a remote part of India after his horse dies. He eventually stumbles upon a graveyard where he witnesses a group of corpses being brought back to life by a tribe of feral men who inhabit the area. Jukes is taken captive by the tribe and forced to live among them, learning their ways and customs. He soon discovers that the tribe has a complex system of beliefs and rituals surrounding death and the afterlife, and he becomes embroiled in their conflicts and power struggles. As Jukes struggles to survive in this strange and dangerous world, he must also confront his own beliefs about life and death, and the nature of human existence. The novel is a haunting exploration of the human condition, and a powerful meditation on the mysteries of life and death. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
