Beskrivelse af The Story Without A Name (1919)
The Story Without A Name is a novel written by Jules Barbey d'Aurevilly and was first published in 1919. The story is set in the 19th century and revolves around a young man named Hugues Viane who is a soldier and a poet. Hugues is a mysterious and enigmatic character who is haunted by his past and is seeking redemption for his sins. The novel is divided into three parts, each of which tells a different story. The first part is about Hugues and his relationship with a woman named Madame de Parnes. Madame de Parnes is a wealthy and beautiful woman who is married to a much older man. Hugues falls in love with her, but their relationship is complicated by her husband and Hugues' past. The second part of the novel tells the story of Hugues' past and how he became the man he is today. It is revealed that Hugues was once a member of a secret society and was involved in a scandalous affair with a married woman. This affair led to a duel in which Hugues killed the woman's husband. The final part of the novel is about Hugues' search for redemption. He meets a young woman named Blanche de Cazalis who is also seeking redemption for her sins. Hugues and Blanche form a bond and together they try to find a way to make amends for their past mistakes. The Story Without A Name is a complex and thought-provoking novel that explores themes of love, sin, redemption, and the human condition. It is a beautifully written book that is both haunting and poetic. With Impressions Of The Author. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
