So at first these four Puranas were extant. From these four Puranas, the eighteen Maha Puranas were written. And long after this many other Upa-Puranas came into appearance. That the Puranas were collected and compiled from the original Adi Purana Samhita can easily be traced if each Puranam be read attentively.
