The Saint's Tragedy

The Saint's Tragedy is a play written by Charles Kingsley in 1848. Margaret is pursued by a young nobleman named Earl Godwin, who becomes obsessed with her and eventually rapes her. Margaret is eventually martyred for her faith by the Roman Emperor, and Earl Godwin is able to redeem himself by defending her honor and dying alongside her.
