Beskrivelse af The Rhesus Of Euripides (1913)
The Rhesus of Euripides is a play written by the ancient Greek playwright Euripides. This particular edition of the play was translated into English by Gilbert Murray and published in 1913. The play is set during the Trojan War and follows the story of the Trojan prince Rhesus, who is preparing to join the battle against the Greeks. However, before he can do so, he is visited by the god Hermes, who warns him that he will be killed in battle. Rhesus decides to ignore the warning and joins the battle anyway, but is ultimately killed by the Greek hero Odysseus. The play explores themes of fate, free will, and the consequences of ignoring divine warnings. Murray's translation is known for its accuracy and readability, making it a popular choice for students and scholars of ancient Greek literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
