Beskrivelse af The Railway Children
The Railway Children is a classic children's novel by Edith Nesbit, first published in 1906. The story follows the lives of three siblings, Roberta, Peter, and Phyllis, who live in a comfortable home in London with their parents. However, their lives are turned upside down when their father is falsely accused of selling state secrets and is sent to prison. The family is forced to move to a small cottage in the countryside, near a railway station. The children are fascinated by the trains passing by and quickly make friends with the station master and his family. They also meet a wealthy gentleman who takes an interest in their father's case and helps them in various ways. The children's adventures include helping a Russian exile, rescuing a boy from a runaway train, and even preventing a train crash.Throughout the book, the children learn valuable lessons about courage, kindness, and the importance of family. The Railway Children is a heartwarming story that has been beloved by generations of readers. After the adventure of Peter's Coal-mine, it seemed well to the children to keep away from the station--but they did not, they could not, keep away from the railway. They had lived all their lives in a street where cabs and omnibuses rumbled by at all hours, and the carts of butchers and bakers and candlestick makers (I never saw a candlestick-maker's cart; did you?)This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
