Beskrivelse af The Privet Hedge (1922)
The Privet Hedge is a novel written by J. E. Buckrose and published in 1922. The story is set in the English countryside and follows the lives of two families, the Berrys and the Hatches, who are separated by a privet hedge. The Berrys are a wealthy family who own a large estate, while the Hatches are a poorer family who live in a small cottage. Despite their differences in social class, the two families become friends and their children, Dick Berry and Joan Hatch, fall in love. However, their relationship is threatened by the disapproval of their families and the interference of a scheming neighbor, Mrs. Grimmer. The novel explores themes of class, love, and the consequences of societal expectations. It is a heartwarming tale of friendship and romance set against the backdrop of rural England in the early 20th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
