Beskrivelse af The Outrage (1918)
The Outrage is a novel written by Annie Vivanti Chartres and published in 1918. The story is set in London during World War I and follows the life of a young woman named Dolly, who is struggling to make ends meet while her husband is away fighting in the war. Dolly is forced to take on a job as a waitress in a caf, where she meets a wealthy and influential man named Sir John. Sir John becomes infatuated with Dolly and begins to pursue her relentlessly, despite her protests. When Dolly's husband returns from the war, he is outraged by Sir John's advances and confronts him. This confrontation leads to a series of events that ultimately result in tragedy. The Outrage is a story of love, betrayal, and the devastating consequences of unchecked power and privilege. Chartres' writing is vivid and emotive, capturing the tumultuous atmosphere of wartime London and the struggles of ordinary people caught up in the chaos of history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
