Beskrivelse af The Old Wives Tale, 1595 (1908)
The Old Wives Tale is a play written by George Peele in 1595, which was later published as a book in 1908. The story revolves around the lives of two sisters, one of whom is virtuous and the other is a prostitute. The virtuous sister, named Constantia, is married to a wealthy merchant, but her life takes a tragic turn when she is falsely accused of infidelity and banished from her home. The other sister, Dromio, continues her life of debauchery and eventually becomes a witch. The play explores themes of morality, gender roles, and the consequences of one's actions. It is notable for its use of supernatural elements, such as witches and magic spells. The Old Wives Tale is considered one of Peele's most significant works and a classic of Elizabethan drama. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
