Beskrivelse af The Noble Slaves
The Noble Slaves is a historical fiction novel written by Penelope Aubin. The story is set in the late 17th century and follows the life of a young woman named Zara, who is taken from her home in Africa and sold into slavery in the Caribbean. Zara is bought by a wealthy French plantation owner, who takes a liking to her and eventually frees her from slavery. Zara then falls in love with the plantation owner's son, but their love is forbidden due to their different social statuses. The novel explores themes of love, power, and freedom in a time when slavery was prevalent in the Caribbean. Through Zara's journey, the author sheds light on the harsh realities of slavery and the struggles of those who were enslaved. The Noble Slaves is a captivating and thought-provoking novel that offers a glimpse into the lives of those who were affected by the slave trade. These Persons, who are the principal Subject of this Narrative, were both Natives of Spain; the Lady Teresa's Father was Don Sancho de Avilla, a Gentleman of Castile; who being a Widower took this young Lady, his only Child, then but Ten Years of Age, and went for Mexico, where he resolved to reside the Remainder of his Days; having received some disgust at his Master the King of Spain, who had refused him the Government of a Place in Castile, which he had asked for. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
