Beskrivelse af The Mucker the Mucker
The Mucker is a novel written by Edgar Rice Burroughs. It tells the story of Billy Byrne, a tough and uneducated street fighter from Chicago who is forced to flee to San Francisco after killing a policeman. In San Francisco, he meets and falls in love with Barbara Harding, the daughter of a wealthy businessman. However, their love is complicated by the fact that Barbara is engaged to a man named Billy Mallory, who is also her father's business partner. As the story progresses, Billy Byrne becomes embroiled in a plot to overthrow the government of a fictional Central American country called Costaguana. Along the way, he must confront his own violent nature and learn to work with a group of revolutionaries who are fighting for a cause that he initially does not believe in.The Mucker is a fast-paced adventure novel that explores themes of loyalty, love, and redemption. It is set against the backdrop of the early 20th century and features vivid descriptions of the urban and rural landscapes of America and Central America. The novel was first published in 1914 and has since become a classic of American literature.BILLY BYRNE was a product of the streets and alleys of Chicago's great West Side. From Halsted to Robey, and from Grand Avenue to Lake Street there was scarce a bartender whom Billy knew not by his first name. And, in proportion to their number which was considerably less, he knew the patrolmen and plain clothes men equally as well, but not so pleasantly. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
