But when an attempt is made on his life, he turns to an old friend, Ethel Thomas for help and advice. Thomas, though a seventy-five year old spinster, is no stranger to murder, and the pair soon find themselves caught in a web of blackmail, intrigue and murder as they fight to survive the struggle for the control of the diaries.
