Beskrivelse af The Moon Maid
The Moon Maid is a science fiction novel written by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The story is set in the year 2070 and revolves around Julian, a young man who becomes obsessed with the moon after witnessing the first lunar landing. He sets out on a mission to explore the moon and discovers a hidden civilization of moon men and women who are at war with each other.Julian is captured by the Kalkars, a race of moon men who are at war with the Lotharians. He falls in love with Nah-ee-lah, a beautiful Kalkar woman who is also a warrior. Together, they embark on a dangerous journey to the Lotharian city of Kapdor, where they hope to find a way to end the war and bring peace to the moon. The Moon Maid is a thrilling adventure story that explores the themes of love, war, and the human desire for exploration and discovery. Burroughs creates a vivid and imaginative world on the moon, filled with strange creatures and landscapes. The novel is a classic of science fiction and a must-read for fans of the genre.I shall not bore you with dry, technical descriptions of our motors and equipment. Suffice it to say that the former were of three types--those which propelled the ship through the air and those which propelled it through ether, the latter of course represented our most important equipment, and consisted of powerful multiple-exhaust separators which isolated the true Barsoomian Eighth Ray in great quantities, and, by exhausting it rapidly earthward, propelled the vessel toward Mars. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
