Beskrivelse af The Misanthrope
The Misanthrope is a play written by French playwright Jean Baptiste Poquelin, better known as Moliere. The play is a satire that explores the theme of social hypocrisy and the clash between sincerity and politeness. The main character, Alceste, is a misanthrope who despises the hypocrisy and insincerity of the society he lives in. He falls in love with a coquette named Climne, who embodies everything he hates about society. As the play progresses, Alceste's love for Climne and his disdain for society come into conflict, leading to a series of comedic and dramatic events. The Misanthrope is considered one of Moliere's greatest works and a masterpiece of French literature. It is a timeless classic that continues to be performed and studied today.Alceste. No. My heart loathes you now, and this refusal alone effects more than all the rest. As you are not disposed, in those sweet ties, to find all in all in me, as I would find all in all in you, begone, I refuse your offer, and this much-felt outrage frees me for ever from your unworthy toils. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
