Beskrivelse af The Maiden Widow
The Maiden Widow: A Sequel To The Family Doom is a novel written by Emma Dorothy Eliza Nevitte Southworth and originally published in 1870. It follows the story of Rosalind Trevanion, the daughter of the protagonist of the previous book, The Family Doom. Rosalind has been left alone after the death of her father and the disappearance of her brother, who is suspected of being involved in a murder. She is forced to sell her family home and move to a small cottage where she becomes a governess to the children of a wealthy family. As Rosalind tries to rebuild her life, she meets the dashing Captain George Ashleigh, who is also haunted by his past. The two fall in love, but their happiness is threatened by the secrets and scandals of their pasts. Meanwhile, Rosalind's brother returns, seeking her forgiveness and help in clearing his name. The novel is a tale of love, redemption, and forgiveness, set against the backdrop of 19th-century America. It explores themes such as family, loyalty, and the consequences of past actions. The Maiden Widow is a sequel to The Family Doom, but can also be read as a standalone novel. It is a classic work of romantic fiction that has stood the test of time. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
