Beskrivelse af The Mahavamsa (1908)
The Mahavamsa is a historical text written in the Pali language that chronicles the history of Sri Lanka from the arrival of Prince Vijaya in 543 BCE to the reign of King Mahasena in the 4th century CE. The book was translated into English by the renowned German scholar Wilhelm Geiger in 1908. The Mahavamsa is considered to be one of the most important sources of information about the early history of Sri Lanka and is highly regarded by scholars of Buddhism and South Asian history. The book contains detailed accounts of the reigns of various kings, their accomplishments, and their relationships with the Buddhist monastic community. It also includes stories about the introduction and spread of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, as well as descriptions of important religious sites and relics. The Mahavamsa is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history and culture of Sri Lanka and the spread of Buddhism in South Asia. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
