Beskrivelse af The Liar (1899)
The Liar is a novel written by Gilbert Parker and published in 1899. The story is set in the late 19th century and follows the life of a man named Ali Hafiz, who is known for his exceptional storytelling abilities. Ali Hafiz is a man of many talents, but his greatest talent is his ability to spin a yarn and make people believe it. He is a master of deception, and he uses his skills to gain fame and fortune. The novel is divided into two parts. The first part introduces us to Ali Hafiz and his life in Egypt. We learn about his childhood, his education, and his rise to fame as a storyteller. We also meet the people who are important to him, including his wife, his children, and his friends. As Ali Hafiz becomes more successful, he begins to tell bigger and more elaborate lies. He becomes a man of great wealth and influence, but he is also a man who is constantly looking over his shoulder, afraid that his lies will catch up with him.The second part of the novel takes place in England, where Ali Hafiz has fled to escape his past. He takes on a new identity and begins a new life, but his past catches up with him in unexpected ways. The novel explores themes of deception, identity, and the consequences of our actions. It is a gripping tale of a man who is both a hero and a villain, and who must face the consequences of his actions. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
