Beskrivelse af The Ironmaster
The Ironmaster: Or Love And Pride is a novel written by French author Georges Ohnet and first published in 1884. The story is set in the industrial city of Rouen in the mid-19th century and revolves around the life of a wealthy ironmaster, Andr Fauvel. Fauvel is a proud and ambitious man who has worked hard to build his fortune and reputation in the iron industry. He is married to a beautiful and devoted wife, Claire, and has a son, Paul, whom he hopes will one day take over his business. However, Fauvel's world is turned upside down when he discovers that his wife has been having an affair with his business partner, Jacques de Boisdhyver. Fauvel is devastated by the betrayal and becomes consumed by a desire for revenge. He uses his power and influence to ruin de Boisdhyver's business and reputation, but in doing so, he also puts his own business and family at risk. Meanwhile, his son Paul falls in love with de Boisdhyver's daughter, Jeanne, and the two young lovers become caught up in the feud between their families. The Ironmaster: Or Love And Pride is a gripping tale of love, betrayal, and revenge that explores the themes of pride, ambition, and the corrupting influence of power. Ohnet's vivid descriptions of the industrial landscape of Rouen and the complex characters he creates make this novel a classic of French literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
