Arthroplasty market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 26.7% during 2010-2017. Almost 70,000 joint replacement surgeries were performed in India alone in the year of 2011. This rise in joint replacement surgeries is due to increase in average age of population, economic progress of population in general & more Knee Arthroplasty trained Surgeons. In 1997 the WHO formally recognized obesity as a global epidemic. As of 2008 the WHO estimates that at least 500 million adults (greater than 10%) are obese, with higher rates among women than men. The percentage of adults affected in the United States as of 2015-2016 is about 39.6% overall (37.9% of males and 41.1% of females).Hence, in today's era, we are more likely to face challenge of increase in need for knee replacement surgery in morbidly obese patients.
