Beskrivelse af The Gunman's Reckoning
The Gunman's Reckoning is a Western novel written by Max Brand. The story follows the character of Bob Darcy, a notorious gunman who has been on the run for years. After a botched robbery, Darcy is forced to flee to a small town called Twin Springs. There, he meets a woman named Helen and her father, who offer him a job as a ranch hand. As Darcy begins to settle into his new life, he finds himself drawn to Helen, despite his violent past. However, trouble soon comes knocking in the form of a rival gang who are determined to take over the town. Darcy is forced to confront his past and use his skills as a gunman to protect the people he has come to care for.Throughout the novel, Brand explores themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the consequences of violence. The Gunman's Reckoning is a thrilling Western tale that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very end.For the first moment Donnegan was not sure; it was not until there was a slight faltering in the deal--an infinitely small hesitation which only a practiced eye like that of Donnegan's could have noticed--that he was sure. The winner was crooked. Yet the hand was interesting for all that. He had done the master trick, not only giving himself the winning hand but also giving each of the others a fine set of cards. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
