Beskrivelse af The Gamester
""The Gamester: A Tragedy"" is a play written by David Garrick and first performed in 1753. The story follows the character of Beverley, a man who is addicted to gambling and is on the brink of ruin. His wife, Charlotte, is desperate to save him from himself and from the clutches of his unscrupulous gambling companions. As the story unfolds, we see how Beverley's addiction not only affects him but also those around him, leading to a tragic end. The play explores themes of addiction, greed, and the destructive power of gambling. It is considered one of Garrick's most successful plays and is still performed today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
