Beskrivelse af The First Capture
The First Capture: Or Hauling Down The Flag Of England is a historical fiction novel written by Harry Castlemon and first published in 1900. The story takes place during the War of 1812 and follows the adventures of a young American sailor named Frank Nelson. Frank is serving aboard the USS Constitution, a powerful American warship, when they engage in a fierce battle with the British frigate HMS Guerriere. Despite being outnumbered and outgunned, the Constitution emerges victorious and captures the Guerriere. Frank and his fellow sailors are thrilled with their success, but their joy is short-lived when they discover that the British have captured one of their own ships, the USS Nautilus. Frank and a small group of sailors are sent on a dangerous mission to rescue their comrades and recapture the Nautilus. The novel is full of action and adventure, as Frank and his companions face numerous challenges and obstacles on their mission. Along the way, they encounter hostile Native Americans, treacherous waters, and dangerous British soldiers. The First Capture: Or Hauling Down The Flag Of England is a thrilling tale of bravery and patriotism, set against the backdrop of one of America's most important wars. It is a classic example of historical fiction, bringing to life the excitement and danger of naval warfare in the early 19th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
